On May 25, 2023, an expert discussion was held, during which experts identified challenges and opportunities, as well as gathered different visions of how residents’ observations can supplement various official measurement data and can be used in planning the development of a better urban environment.
The goal of the project is to create citizen-driven data ecosystems to promote adaptation to climate change, development of green infrastructure, development of urban design in six cities – Athens, Kaskai, Dundee, Mannheim, Riga and the city of Utrecht in cooperation with established volunteer communities, as well as minority and marginalized groups.
Within the framework of the project, it is planned to deploy two types of sensors in Riga in order to obtain indicators expressing the quality of the urban environment and analyze them together with indicators characterizing the well-being of residents, thereby assessing the quality of the existing and potentially developing green areas of the city of Riga.
